How to delete read messages from openjms.db?

Hello,
  Am using openjms-0.7.6.1 and the database is default openjms.db.I put
messages in the queue as persistent messages.
Even after the message has been read from the queue ,the message remains in
the openjms.db.

Problem:The size of openjms.db keeps increasing.I want that once the message
has been read from the queue ,it should be deleted from openjms.db.
