[0.7.6.1] OpenJMS embedded stops processing messages over time

I run OpenJMS embedded in Tomcat 5.5.x and on a couple of occasions, OpenJMS
has stopped processing queues messages.
The only way I seem able to fix it is to actually delete the messages from
the database table and restart tomcat.  Is there a "correct" way to
fix/prevent this issue?
