Specifying column names in properties file

I know we all hate XML files, and after my brief interlude with Hibernate I understand why.

But I do have a need to be able to specify some column names at run time, rather than at compile time. Is there any acceptable way to do it?

When I'm using raw JDBC I just put a few entries in a .properties file like this:

FooColumnName=myFoo2009

It would be nice if I could make SimpleORM use the same system.
