I too found it hard to fathom. Much of the traffic which they used to have was complaining about the database persisting through the Serialization interface. I was a little uncomfortable with the idea that the whole thing was supposed to fit in RAM at the same time. =20 Another object database I have downloaded is db4o, also from Sourceforge. Tutorial materials are included in it with demos that seem to work. It is not intended as a stand alone product, but rather as an embedded engine you wrap in your source code (Java, C# ), and I think they now claim it is compatible with .NET which would make it a pretty versatile thing.
