Filters are definitely there, it's just that art they
are working is really funny.

I already discovered that full invocation chain (
filter /servlets is put together at the very start, so

playing arund with wrappers would not help - at least
on tomcat, so idea is dead...  And because there is no
problem with 2.4 I will just migrate if I can,
or find a workaround because my current customer 
is not on very bleeding edge.
