Hi Paul

I think the concept is interesting and there is a space for this sort of 
component.   But I think the test cases need to be expressed better to 
reflect what is the intended aim.

I would also refactor out the XStream dependency behind an interface 
that is more expressive of the JSON functionality design - and have 
XStream with the JSON driver as the default impl.

We can pair on it if you want.
