First on my list is an active community.

Next would be things relating to using this behind a high-volume 
website. Robust replication. Ability to do frequent code pushes without 
downtime. Startup time is also a problem that weighs heavily on my mind.

There are also nice-to-haves that I might not use myself but would be 
attractive to novice users, like migration tools, zero-configuration 
exposure of a RESTful web service, and maybe an integrated query package.
