Are you guys using it in production?

How were you calling prevalence? Did it have a name? What did you call
snapshots? And transactions (we called them commands before)? And the
internal business system (the root object that gets serialized and it
references)? Did you have the baptism problem? :)

Funny. When I did it in 2001, I thought I would publish Prevayler and
get tons of emails telling me of the existing frameworks... I didnt
care to search.

I agree with William. We lack tools to ease adoption.

We are raising the bar on so many fronts: serialization, for example.
It would be easy to implement a non-portable memory dump at VM level,
to avoid load-time problems. Has any VM implemented that? No. Cultural
things take time to change.

Object querying is another example. People just dont know how to do
it. Its ridiculous.

We have built Prevayler for ourselves and we are happy with it. We use
it when applicable (systems that will never exceed one box worth of
RAM).

Also, our site was never really professional. Justin Sampson picked it
up a while ago but it is currently filled with spam comments again.

Justin has his job at Google and it is not Prevayler related. He would
like it to be, but it isnt.

Like you, I am sure a company could be built around Prevayler just as
so many have been built around open source products: MySQL, JBoss,
db4o, Jetty, etc.

It is sort of a chicken and egg problem involving investment and time.
I currently have other projects ( http://sneer.me ) so if anyone wants
to seriously take Prevayler forward, that would be great. I believe
Justin would agree.
