Beginner database "ACID"ity question here: Should any database management system ever really handle the "C" in "ACID" at all? Any non-intrinsic "consistency" parameters (referential integrity is intrinsic to in-memory objects, but not to relational dbs, for example, right?) need to be supplied by the application author anyway, so shouldn't that simply be done in code BEFORE executing a transaction? Doesn't rollback/filtering introduce a type of "inconsistency" (in a broader sense of the word) itself since your application is not necessarily informed of when it has occured? Is there any database management system in existence which is A"C"ID by itself? Or do they all just provide a WAY to be ACID? Doesn't Prevayler, even without rollback/filtering, do that anyway, simply by being used via a programming language? Sorry if these are stupid questions, I just wonder if anybody has good answers/responses to them. On 5 December 2012 18:45, Karl Wettin <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi Bruno, > > it is not.
