Kafka/Samza and event-oriented architectures

I read with great interest this (long but very well written) article on 
Kafka and Samza:

What struck me most is that the author's orientation, that of turning 
the database inside out by looking at all data mutation as streams of 
events, is something that I learned from Klaus and Prevayler a dozen 
years ago. And even though this article is near the cutting edge, it's 
still only one of the realizations that working with Prevayler gave me.

This is mainly a thank-you to Klaus. But I'm curious if other Prevayler 
veterans see the same pattern that I do, where the industry is slowly 
lumbering its way toward a lot of insights that they could have had a 
decade ago if Prevayler hadn't been written off as too weird, or if they 
hadn't been quite as fixated on databases as the only possible solution 
to all problems.
