Painting... with robots - making robot path visible

Hello,
I have a question that is more about java than robocode...
I have used succesfully the PaintingRobot and can create all the shapes I 
want. 
My question is this:
I want to leave a trail line that show the path of my robot. eg If I move 
in a square I want to see a square painted behind me.

So far If I paint a dot/line/shape it follows the tank deleteting the 
oldest shapes. Is this possible without storing all the previous shapes?
