How to modify/Alter Robocode source code?

Hi,
I have a semester project where we have to modify Robocode source code such 
as deleting the score bar etc. However, I am unable to do any modification 
due to some security checks or maybe some predefined policy. Can anyone 
tell me about it? Also, how to modify the source code of Robocode?
