expression language / date ranges in report

Hi at all,

I did some research about an expression language for scarab. The idea is 
to introduce the possibility to enter more detailled and dynamic date 
ranges for scarab report atttributes. Not only single dates.

Are there already any efforts or suggestions which points in this 
direction? I found SCB1974 (not the same but similar), but it seems, 
that nobody works on it. I would be happy for some feedback.
