"save reason as" and "Done" button in non-edit mode in attributes tab

Hi,

today I tried the edit attribute functionality. Is there a special 
meaning of the "save reason as" field in non-edit mode? It is the same 
with the button "Done" next to the "Edit" button. I am able to click 
"Done" in the attribute view (again in non-edit mode), but I am not able 
to edit any attribute.
