Maybe this has been stressed too hard.
Trunk should be used, by our experienced committers like Ronny, as a 
sandbox and testing ground for any changes that are isolated and easy to 
revert. (Big refactorings should be in development branches).

And for many developers it's easier to make the code change and announce 
to others "check it out" rather than making a formal proposal with 
screenshots which many other developers won't have the time to read 
anyway.

Ronny, it was great in my opinion that you made the commit and raised the 
issue of what history tab ideally should be.
My objection really should have been more to the lack of announcement 
made along with the commit. Especially UI changes as everybody likes to 
have their opinion on them :-)
