RE: Scarab XML import

Hi Nathan and Mick,

Regarding (2) from my question: I tried /, \, //, and \\ for Windows attach=
ed file path and they all failed.  Since it works on Linux, I don't have to=
 use Windows for importing issues.

Regarding (3) from my question:  the dependency import seemed working for s=
ome issues but failing for others and it was not working for cross modules =
dependency at all.  There were too many issues to export, edit, and re-impo=
rt them to Scarab.  In addition, as Mick indicated update-same-db didn't fu=
nction as I thought it would.  Instead I imported those dependencies as com=
ments in the affected issues.  That satisfied our requirements.

For (2), try both double backslashes \\ and using forward slashes instead /=
.
C:\\temp\\s940ftp.txt
C:/temp/s940ftp.txt
Java likes forward slashes while Windows uses backslashes, and I suspect on=
e of those will work.

For (3), I don't believe I imported any dependencies, but your idea sounds =
reasonable. I'd add all dependencies to the end of a single XML file (all i=
ssues + all dependencies) so that they load at once, leveraging the same ID=
 values throughout the file. Or, import all issues, export them all with Sc=
arab IDs, and then try an import of the dependencies using the Scarab ID va=
lues. NOTE: I have not tested or looked at code for these scenarios! Use at=
 your own risk, YMMV, etc.

Thanks for your helps.  I made some progress on importing issues.

(1) Importing COMMENT: With Nathan's suggestion, I added <id> elements for =
all <activity-set> and <activity> elements.  At first, they seemed worked r=
andomly for some but failed on others.  I then found that <description> ele=
ments must contain 250 characters or less in order to work properly; althou=
gh UI history tab shows <description> (Action) element can be much longer t=
han 250 characters.

(2) Importing ATTACHMENT: I used an admin account which has Domain__Admin a=
nd Domain__Edit permissions but it didn't work without changing ImportIssue=
s.java [from public ImportIssues(){this(false);} to public ImportIssues(){t=
his(true);}].  However, I'm still having problem on Windows XP platform.  I=
 get errors such as:=20
=09** Could not find file attachment "C:\temp\s940ftp.txt" **
While the OS file does exist.  Tested on Linux with "/tmp/s940ftp.txt" work=
ed fine.  Any idea why it is failing on Windows?

(2) Importing dependency: I have yet to test how it works.  Since all issue=
s must be exist in the DB before dependency records can be imported.  I am =
thinking to import all issues without dependency first, and then import jus=
t dependency with import-type "update-same-db" the second round.  Will this=
 work?  How did you accomplish this task in the past?
