------=_Part_89_610105986.1298102009374 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I spent two hours attempting to get scarab to even talk to mysql, reading dozens of websites in the attempt. Then I completely removed scarab from my system and will not waste further time with it. I'm a CEO of a small company, and I do not have time to fix broken projects. From now on, I've just written into our corporate bylaws, under software mandates, a paragraph prohibiting all employees from installing software packages that do not have a .deb or .rpm package. We don't have time to waste on this. I work for 150.00 an hour, and unless you're going to pay me to develop your software, I have other things to do with my time... one of which is running a business. Over the years I've happily used many software that are 0.1 version, or didn't have good installers, but I've only stuck with those that worked without a lot of headaches. Firefox is one such software that I still use because of loyalty and persistent ease of use. Making something difficult to put into place will absolutely prevent adoption of that system. Scarab? I still have no idea if I even need or want it, because I've yet to see it, and now I never will because I've just developed a prejudice against it. Fair or not, rational or not, when I see "scarab 2.0" in a nice .deb, or in a box on a shell at best buy, I'm going to pass it by. I have, by that point, already developed other systems that do what I need *today*. This is the most time I can waste in directing my attention to scarab, and I've already blown more than two hours of my day. Goodbye, scarab.
