I haven't really been thinking about another 2.x release because I've
been trying to work out a good architecture for a 3.x release that would
make sf more usable and extensible (right now, the code is a bit dense
and takes a while to grok).

Before another 2.x release goes out, I need to bring everything
up-to-date with respect to the 2.5 servlet specification. I've been
steadily reading through the spec and adding missing things (such as
<user-data-constraint>) and fixing little ambiguities, but I'd really
like to make sure that the next version really covers everything. (If
you'd like to volunteer to write unit tests that cover sections of the
servlet specification, I'd love it!)

The current CVS head is quite stable. I believe the only unit test that
doesn't pass is one of the odd UTF URL encoding tests, and that has more
to do with the container's configuration than anything else.

I use the current CVS head in production myself and have no problems
whatsoever. You should be able to easily compile it and use it yourself
without waiting until I get around to another "official" release.
