You can't assume that every server is going to normalize in the same way
either. Maybe you should specify in the securityfilter xml which server
you're using, and it can choose the appropriate hack.

Anyway, I'll send a sample war file tomorrow to illustrate my experience
with it working correctly in the latest tomcat release.
