how to choke an overproducing stage

Hi,

Even with a single thread, a first stage overflow a second one.
If I put a max queue size on the second stage queue, it will surely refuse insertion but the first
stage will be stuck with events it hasn't processed.

What do you do in that case?

I could store it into an Event poster to a timer for later processing, but that doesnt stop the
input. Basically, in a single threaded program, the second task would naturally choke the first
one wheter it's performed internally as a subtask or performed in sequence.

I was hoping to find a pool controller that could monitor the second queue, and size down to
"no-thread-at-all".

Is there such a controller to implements backpressure without loss? If not, how do you solve it?
