Summary: Changing replPrompt breaks REPL

Initial Comment:
Attempts to change repl prompt (e.g. by adding 
-Dsisc.replPrompt=">" to the startup script) produces an 
infinite (as far as my patience allows me to tell) list of this: 
 
Error: configuration parameter 'replPrompt' malformed. 
 
I tried quite a few variations on the above, no joy.
