I see. I had to create two macros to work around this
problem (which is mildly unpleasant). I guess this is
the best I can do, since a single macro can only
generate a single expression, right?

OK; now what's with the weird symbols:

(#%quote x)

Can't I just get (quote x)? This is not about looks --
I want to be able to feed macroexpanded expressions to
other macros.
