Thanks for this. That sounds like a profitable line of investigation if simply and painfully keeping track of the open files gets too confusing. Hmm: a Reference object would indeed presumably allow me to develop some simple custodian... Stoppit! This sounds like that combination of lowish priority and high interest which is very very dangerous to productivity!
