autocorrect and quotes in openoffice

Can I observe that the automatic quotation logic in both MSWord and OOo
means that the moment you paste in working code, you end up with
autoformatted stuff in which the quotes are different, so the code can
no longer be pasted into text editors and be expected to work.

We must not have funny quotes in code samples or other bits of the docs,
just boring old ascii 34 " chars, and ascii-something-above 96 ' quotes.

So please: go to autocorrect and autoformat in your wordprocessor and
turn off autoformat/autocorrect quotation marks. If you want sloping
quotes in text, you can define autoreplace shortcuts to do this (I have
``` and ''' ) mapping to sloping doublequotes for just such occasions.
I believe the SF Reference doc is now up to date with quotes all
corrected. Someone else ought to review the doc and accept all changes,
as it has too many changes tracked for OOo to handle edits propertly.
ps, cruise control says I broke the build with my last checkin,
compilation error, but I cant see the trace. I've set off another build
to see if it was a transient problem.
