RE: sfdeamon on target

Hi Franck,

AS you suggested, in a distributed environment bootstrapping the system
could be a big problem is you are talking in the order or 100s of nodes.

We have a system that installs SmartFrog (SF) in any number of nodes
provided they have FTP/SFTP and SSH/Telnet facilities. It can even be
used to install the Java VM if it is not present in the remote node.

At the moment we are finishing the documentation and improving a more
complete example using SSH and SFTP. The descriptions available in CVS
right now only use the FTP and Telnet components and there is no
documentation. These changes and documentation will be committed in CVS
in the next few days. We will send an announcement to the developers
list as soon as the code is available in CVS.

The installer descriptions not only allow you to install/uninstall SF
but also to start/stop daemons in a cluster of nodes from any daemon in
the network.

One more thing, when you are talking about 1000s or servers it is better
to use some type of auto discovery for new nodes and in that situation
the DNS/DHCP/SLP components could help and systems like SF Anubis can
enhance the solution to detect when a node is and is not available.
