Sanjay, A number of issues arise: Firstly I hope that in this situation your are running with security switched on! Secondly, you can direct SmartFrog to export components on a specific port - by default we set this to selecting an anonymous port. You do this by setting the attribute sfExportPort to a specific value. This has a limitation that if you want to have multiple sf daemons on a single host (root and sub-processes) - they will clash on port numbers unless you manage it so that each uses a different value. For example this can be done by setting a system property for each process and then using a lazy reference to the value of that property as the port number in prim.sf. An alternative would be to open an SSH tunnel between the hosts, but even this takes some care - for example to ensure that call-backs use the incoming tunnel. The new security model, as made avaiable in the sf v4.0 alpha pre-release, would help you in providing additional protection in the case of using a tunnel. You would be able to enforce additional checks on the requests between the various parties on each end of the tunnel, or indeed at a third party resident in a DMZ acting as a gateway component. However this is probably for the future as we do not currently consider this "release" as stable. We have tried with 3800, 1098/1099 ( default rmi) but deployment is not going through. thanks for the help Sanjay ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting language that extends applications into web and mobile media.
