Hi Michael, A smartfrog component description developed by using smartfrog language, can be used for deployment and management of applications in a distributed environment. At the deployment time , it creates a component description instance which manages the life cycle of the application . This instance can be used for querying the application parameters (which might change at run time) available in the component description and hence it can also be used as a catalog for that application. I feel , SLP(service location protocol) component can be used for 'Consolidated Catalog Management' of number of applications distributed across network. This also allows to have dynamic updating of items (application) in the catalog. SLP is available as part of component package. Please get back for any queries.
