Not trivial for me without more study of working installations, sorry.

As yet I find these dramatically concise scripts inscrutable.  Should
I omit mention of rt.jar?  Should I substitute one or more of the .jar
I have: dt.jar jaws.jar jce.jar ....?  Should I ...?

[While disconnected, this theory I think I confirmed independently.]

scripts/javac by design spews the same "not" "working" "installation"
complaint for either of TWO conditions.

Mac OS X /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Home
works here.

> ! -r ${J2SE14}/jre/lib/rt.jar

Ouch my Home has only lib/, no jre/.

sudo mkdir, sudo ln -s creates a jre/lib/ for me, but then still I
have no rt.jar.

README suggests I could benefit from discovering my bootclasspath, so
I could add gjc-rt.jar to it.  Maybe that *rt.jar substitutes
adequately for my missing rt.jar.  As yet I do not know.

Slowly I grow less clueless, Pat LaVarre
