What mostly works for me now, gratis thank you, is:

Substitute Mac ../Classes/classes.jar for Linux/ Windows
jre/lib/rt.jar.

I'm delighted to see I spared this audience copies of at least the
last burst of wrong turns I took to get there. Eventually
I thought to resort to jar -tvf | grep of the .jar
I had anywhere near my J2SE14.  Then I picked a .jar with lots
of java.lang types in it.
