Problem Unicode Chars in XML with FOP,PDF

Hello,

in my XML-Content some Chars are encoded
like &#377;... .
The HTML-Output looks fine, but FOP does not
interpret it and outputs "&#377;".

Hardcoded text in XSL works fine,too.

&amp; does not help.

Any hints ?????
