You need to be an SAP customer to get the beta resource adapter. InQMy
was bought by SAP.

Here is an FAQ on the adapter:

FAQ to SAP Java Resource Adapter

What is a SAPJRA ?
SAPJRA (SAP Java Resource Adapter) is a Resource Adapter for R/3 which
is implemented according to JCA 1.0 and which is a wrapper for Java
Connector 2.0.
It allows to call remote-functions of a SAP system using native RFC
over TCP/IP.

Can the SAPJRA be used with every J2EE App. Server ?
SAPJRA was tested on SAP J2EE Engine 6.20 (InQMy App. Server) and on
the SUN Reference Implementation App. Server. It passed all J2EE
Specification Compliance tests. As long as the J2EE App. Server supports
the J2EE Connector Architecture 1.0 (part of J2EE 1.3) it should be
compatible with SAPJRA.

What restrictions SAPJRA 1.0 has?
SAPJRA doesn't support inbound communication, tRFC, IDocs, tickets and
certificates. Additionally, 2-phase commit and re-authentication are not
supported by R/3, so they are not supported by SAPJRA.

Does the SAPJRA support the Common Client Interface (CCI) ?
Yes. Here are some details of the implementation: The MappedRecords,
but not the IndexedRecords are supported. Also the method
execute(interactionSpec, input) is implemented, but not the method
execute(interactionSpec, input, output). All input and output parameters
are transferred as MappedRecord (structures). The MappedRecords may
contain ResultSets, which represent tables.

What types of functions can be called ?
All remote-functions (typically BAPIs). When using the
transaction-management of the SAPJRA, remote-functions, which execute
database-statements directly instead of using the update-process, should
not be called. There is no programmatic way to check, if
database-statements are directly executed, and often it is not even
documented. In those cases one has to look at the source-code of the
remote-function.

Does the SAPJRA need additional libraries ?
Yes, the SAPJRA is based on the SAP Java Connector 2.0 (SAP JCo 2.0),
which is provided by SAP for free.

Is the SAPJRA 100% pure Java ?
Although the SAPJRA itself is 100% pure Java, the SAP JCo is not. The
native libraries of the SAP JCo are available for several operating
systems.

Is the SAPJRA visible for the user ?
Only a class ConnectionSpecImpl, which serves for passing additional
properties to login into R/3, and one optional interface ResultMap,
which offers additional functions to process R/3 Meta Data. All other
classes are not visible for the user. The goal is to call SAP functions
only by using the Java standard interfaces of the J2EE Connector
Architecture.

Does the SAPJRA support connection-pooling?
Yes.

Does the SAPJRA support connection-sharing ?
If the J2EE App. Server allows it, connection-sharing inside of the
same transaction is supported. Otherwise not.

Does the SAPJRA support re-authentication of connections ?
No, because the SAP system does not support re-authentication.

Does the SAPJRA support XA-based transactions (XAResource)?
No, because the SAP system does not support a 2-phase commit.

Does the SAPJRA support local transactions ?
Yes, but the following rule must be kept:
When using the transaction-management of the SAPJRA, no
remote-functions, which execute database-statements directly (call
COMMIT WORK) instead of using the update-process, must be called. Within
BAPIs (special RFC-enabled Function Modules) there are also some
exceptions, where COMMIT WORK is invoked. These BAPIs shouldn't be
called, too. Customers can write their own BAPIs in ABAP.

How can I find out if a remote-function uses the update-process or
not?
There is no programmatic way to do find this out, and often it is not
even documented. In those cases one has to look at the source-code of
the remote-function.

Does the SAPJRA support authentication using Subjects (JAAS) ?
Yes, but currently only password-credentials (username/password) are
supported, which authentication-mechanism-type is BasicPassword. Tickets
and Certificates, which
authentication-mechanism-type is GenericCredentials are not supported.

What are the plans for following releases?
We plan to implement the Resource Adapter according JCA 1.5
specification with inbound calls. Also the support of tickets and
certificates will be provided.

The link that you sent seems to have basic Authentication. So can you
please send any other link which gives a data sheet of the Resource
Adapter. Of course I searched in google but could not get any useful
information. Finally i typed www.inqmy.com but it seems that InqMy no
longer exists as a separate Entity and it redirected me to page of
www.sap.com .

Well, my specific questions are :
1. Does it support BAPI execution?
i.e for an external user it should look like just an another RFM
execution and handling the "CONTAINER" , the data type which needs to be
filled up for executing a BAPI and which is a lot messy.

2. How far is the Transaction API supported?

I could download one pdf from
http://java.sun.com/javaone/javaone2001/pdfs/1043.pdf,So if you know
any information over and above this could you please send the URL?

TIA,
Ramki///

The SAP resource adapter is in beta and is available for download from

the SAP Service Marketplace site:
http://service.sap.com/connectors .

It is an updated version of the InQMy resource adapter.

Hi,
Does EIS vendor SAP provides Sap resource adapter?.
Your answer will be deeply appreciated.
Thanks,
