Role of Stub and Skeleton...

Hi All,

I am little bit new to EJB Technology but have worked in j2ee technologies but now i start working on EJB and reading all concepts of EJB but Can not under stand Stub and Skeleton in Web Environment..If we don't have distributed environment then what is role of EJB at that time Can we prefer Normal bean Instead of EJB...I know that EJB can handle Transaction and use other Services of Container..But not  quite sure about in one server case....Is Normal bean little bit less Efficient in performing as For XML Transformation as Compare to Stateless sessionn bean...

Any Suggestion ...
