That is because insert operation is not performed on behalf of me or my
application.

That can be solution that you can get app that inserts into database
arranged by responsible person.

Hovewer, this is not the exact problem. My problem is that how such an easy
operation cannot be

applied using ejb-ql.

Hi,



why would you only need a trim on a lookup function?



Either the spaces in your DB have meaning, so you would use them in your
ejb-ql, or the spaces are there 'accidentally', meaning you should use a
trim when inserting your data, not an retrieving?!
