Re: [Announcement] The Porter Project Proposals - JDP process

Hi all-

Just a heads up that we are ready to move forward, through
the JDP process, with the Porter Proposals. "Debate" has subsided,
and the next phase is for voting to occur. Voting will take
place in the Commercial House (commercial licensees) for
two weeks, and (Commercial House) approved Proposals will
then move forward into the General House (individuals) for
voting.

The Owner of the Proposals has decided to withdraw:
  * Proposal 6:  net.jini.activation specification
  * Proposal 12: net.jini.jeri specification
  * and the net.jini.security and net.jini.security.proxytrust
    specifications from Proposal 22
There are some issues that have come up with these specifications
that will need some time to work through -- and therefore, they
are not ready for vote. I've been told that they will be
resubmitted (as new Proposals) at sometime in the not too distant
future.

I expect to announce the opening of voting in the Commercial
House on all of the other Proposals sometime tomorrow.
