Note from OSCON...

Hi all-

I'm in Portland Oregon at the O'Reilly Open Source
Conference (OSCON), talking to some open source developers
about the benefits of Jini technology and our community.
There is good interest, but we have much work to do in
this world (most have not heard about Jini in a while).
It has been nice, though, as the developers I've talked
with seem to have resonated with our recent open licensing
model change (no surprise there), as well as our community
success and commercial deployments using the technology. :-)

Overall, it's a good conference, but the focus is clearly
on perl, linux, php, phyton, etc. more so than Java. I have
heard the number of Java tracks is more than doubled this
year (vs. last), so hopefully that's a sign of good things
to come.

Being here is getting me more psyched about our upcoming
9th Jini Community Meeting. Don't forget about the Registration
the Call for Papers (open through Sept 6th).
