I'm very glad to report that Gregg Wonderly
<http://user-greggwon.jini.org/> has initiated a
"Community Proposal" to the Java.net leads to create
a Jini Community area for Jini discussions and projects
to connect together on Java.net. This would give great
visibility to Jini projects and the Jini Community on
Java.net.

For those not familiar... Java.net <http://java.net/>
is a great developer site with a diversity of Java -related
communities and projects. Jini projects are certainly a
very good fit there. They are also a CollabNet -based site,
so the project tools are equal to what's on Jini.org.
New projects also have the ability to choose Subversion
source control versus CVS if desired.

I know Gregg will be following up with more details,
but I wanted to let you know of this effort (and thank
Gregg!). There are also some other leaders in the Jini
Community who have expressed interest in helping lead
this effort with Gregg - so I think you can count on
a strong leadership team to be moving this forward.

As part of this effort, I'd like to encourage Jini.org
project owners to move their projects to Java.net, and
Jini developers to get involved in projects and the
Community area that will be forming there. If you are a
project owner and are thinking of moving your project
somewhere else.. that's cool too, but it would be great
to know about it so we can keep Jini -related projects
(where ever they live) visible within our Community.

thanks -Jim
