I was out last week at ApacheCon ( <http://www.us.apachecon.com/> ), talking to folks to promote and progress our Proposal. I presented Jini in the Incubator FastTrack/Lightning Round session: <http://wiki.apache.org/incubator/ApacheConFastTrack>. There was a good response. One thing that was interesting to me overall was the number (at least four or five) of other projects that talked about having to rename or naming issues -- so we're not alone! (Not that it helps ;-)). As for the results of the survey - thanks to all that responded (134 in total). I will get the detailed results out later today. "aladin" was the choice of most, with 28.8% of the vote. Which gets to the other reason for my lack of publication of the results (I had hoped on just publicizing the vote winner and getting on with it) -- there are some potential TM issues associated with that name that were uncovered. From people far more knowledgeable about TM policy than I... different spelling virtually never makes enough difference in trademark circumstances. Apparently, the legal test of infringement is usually whether there is a likelihood of confusion between two marks, not whether there is exact identity (spelling, etc). (Grumble) Anyways, we've vetted the other top choices and I believe we have a name that will work. Details in the results mail forthcoming. thanks -Jim =========================================================================== To unsubscribe, send email to [email protected] and include in the body of the message "signoff JAVASPACES-USERS".
