Since we voted on river and not jiniriver I think it only fair that we
go with the vote.

Incidentaly, there have been comments made suggesting the Apache
project should have a name associated with Jini while others have said
the spirit of Apache names is that they NOT have a relationship to the
technology represented by the project. As such I would propose that if
the new name offers some association to the Jini name and related
imagery it should not be utterly obvious in order to respect the
spirit of Apache naming. That is, the name should not have an obvious
connection to "Jini" but this community might have a story that links
the names in a manner that has meaning to us.

Given that the vote is already complete, we seem to be awaiting TM
approval on the first of the names: Apache River. Apache River may
have a FAQ in which is asked, "Why the name Apache River?" We now have
the opportunity to write that story and link the name back to Jini.
Meanwhile, let's allow the formal Apache River naming process to
proceed (to run its course, as it were).
