Thank you Nati...

Anyhow, since I'm not interested in using a commercial product at this point
for what I need, can you please advise me or point me to where I can find
information on how to run either Blitz or River in an embedded mode?

Asaf

You can find most of the material on the questions you asked just by
browsing through the mailing list archive and Blitz project:

Blitz is an opensource project implementing the JavaSpaces spec and can be
found here: http://www.dancres.org/bjspj/docs/docs/blitz.html

We (GigaSpaces) provide tutorials and examples as part of our wiki
documentation. A good place to start is:

http://www.gigaspaces.com/wiki/display/OLH/JavaSpaces+Tutorial+A+-+Plain+Jav
aSpaces

Note that even though our product is a commercial product we provide a free
community edition that is totally free of charge for development and
production use.

It is direceltly intended for those who wish to evaluate the technology and
don't have the time to spend on setup and configuration.

You can find specific example on how to setup our implementation in a web
container using a spring based configuration:

http://www.gigaspaces.com/wiki/display/GS6/OpenSpaces+Web+Container

Subject: General understanding questions

Hi Everybody,

I have some general understanding questions about Java Spaces.

1. Once running, where is a java space situated? Is a java space
located on a specific server or is it distributed? Is it implementation
specific? If it is, how does the SUN java spaces technology behave in
regards to that?

2. How can I host java spaces and all its dependencies on top of a web
application? Is it possible to host it and all its dependencies in a single
web application? How can I that?

3. Where can I find some best practices information about java spaces
for issues like scaling, redundancy, security, etc.?

4. As I understand, the lookup service uses multicast announcements to
discover remote java spaces. What are my possibilities of limiting the
network boundaries of a java spaces network in cases where I want different
java spaces network to coexist in the same physical network?

Thanks in advance,

Asaf
