I won't get into the up-and-running question (google if no one else responds), but if you hadn't heard, JINI is in the process of transitioning to an Apache-based project. So the newest version of the source code can be seen here: http://incubator.apache.org/river/RIVER/index.html (I believe older versions of the source also were available under a different license.)
