I also think it would be great, and probably not a viable burdent to use the
existing mechanisms with loopback.  It sounds inefficient, but unless you really
are impacted by the performance, I agree that using the existing facilities
should be a first choice.

Mark's comment about maintaining pass by value, if something that had skipped my
thought processes.  That is something that you have to consider, because many of
us do write Jini software that alters objects that are received via remote
calls, without considering the visibility of that object beyond our
client/server entity.
