Jan's tutorial has a lot of bits to draw on. I did not get the sense that it's a good step-by-step for how to do things in a production environment. That's a huge piece that's missing for me from all the Jini literature. The other things available are scattered at best, hit-or-miss, references to email threads, etc. The jsk material has a lot of detail but little coherence in terms of that step-by-step getting started gap. As can be seen on the Getting Started link below, it's like "Here's the thing to install. Now you can go look at these other incomplete projects to see how they've masked over some of the complexity." But no clear rationale for why you'd choose one or another, or whether they are complete and can get you into production. Jini/Javaspaces is a fantastic set of tools. Unfortunately there is precious little coherent guidance on how to use them as a beginner. Until that is addressed, I don't see it going anywhere. I am not just blathering -- I'd like to help, but I have very little experience. I've built several small experiements of one kind of another, but I'm far from understanding the details or the tradeoffs for steering a project this way or that. Sorry.
