I know very little about osgi and just a bit about jini, so take my words with a grain of salt... I wonder about the priority of this for the jini community generally. I can see a subset of folks such as already exists working on it, but what is the driver for this to take on a wider effort? osgi I gather has some steam right now. Because of Eclipse? And because of Eclipse making some kind of move toward the server from the desktop? So what? Not to belittle it at all, but maybe osgi should just go about with their work to see where it leads. Then find jini. Meanwhile I believe if the jini and river communities focus on their own story and making jini more visible and ready to use in various scenarios, then *that* in itself would probably draw the two communities together. i.e. jini has its own work to do to thrive without becoming pre-occupied with anything else. If no one cares about jini, no one will certainly care about osgi and jini together. There is work to do on jini alone from what I can tell, relative to better "getting started" documentation, examples, and patterns for familiar scenarios. Who knows where osgi is going to go? What's the size of that audience? The future is distribution across nodes. Jini is already there but hasn't quite announced itself well enough. osgi seems to be headed there, but I would wager they have many lessons to learn from a better jini story per se rather than from a series of "can't we all just get along" conversations. I'm just sayin. Almost no one cares about jini per se but they should.
