Right, Jini lookup is type based and has template matching. Something
that doesn't seem possible based on DNS records, or you might need to
implement it at the client side yourself.

I have Zero knowledge of ZeroConfig so that make me not very qualified
to comment more, but another thing one might think of is how many people
control their own DNS records for their domains (I'm not talking about
the typical web interface of your provider to add some CNAME or A records).

And if you have control you likely want to implement some form of
security for the obvious reasons. Nothing in live is for free and I
doubt this will be.

As Dan said ZeroConfig to find lookup services might be interesting,
but even then you have to configure something about getting to the
proper lookup services. No doubt those with more than zero knowledge
will correct me if I talked nonsense.
