anybody used JDDAC ?( JAva distribution data acquisition & control )

Hello Everybody,
             I am Sujit Bhosale Graduate Student of Texas Tech University.
We are working on a project where we are attempting to give sensor
connectivity  in our SORCER Environment ( sorcer.cs.ttu.edu ) which is based
on Service Oriented Architecture using JINI.
            I wanted know the status if the Jddac Project (
https://jddac.dev.java.net/). Has anybody done anything using JDDAC? Is the
Project active as I am following the website I see no updates or any news
coming.Also I wanted to use Jddac for any simple sensor( may be temperature
measuring) data measurement. Can you suggest me any sensor( company & model
) that i can use and quickly measure data from it.
