Can I use JTAPI to retireve content from database and play back to caller using TTS

HI All,

Im currently exploring JTAPI, using which I need to develop an Voice
enabled application. I have already created some sample applications for
voice integration using VoiceXML. Since, it costs much to host the VoiceXML
based voice applications, we are in the process of finding an alternative
to the VoiceXML applications. One alternative which we worked out is JTAPI.

So before getting into the JTAPI, I have some questions/doubts which I want
to clear.

1. The Hardware Requirements.
2. The Software Requirements.
3. Can JTAPI be used to retreive dynamic content from the database and
speak it back to the caller using Text To Speech. Consider this scenario
and tell me whether this is possible:
The caller will call the number and he will be given a menu. If he selects
menu 1, then I need to get some infomation from the database and play it
back to the calleer using Text To Speech.

I know that this scenoria is possible in VoiceXML based voice applications.
But please anybody tell me if this is possible in JTAPI based voice
applications.
