If you are looking for a JTAPI emulator, GJTAPI has one (sf.net/projects/gjtapi). Of
course, this is just delaying the pain, as the real work in any telephony application
tends to be hooking it into the real telephony network.

Once you get your application working against the emulator, GJTAPI does support serial
modems, Windows TAPI (win32 only) and SIP, amoung other protocols. Modems can be
particularily tricky, since each chipset tends to support it's own proprietary TA command set.
