Blackberry TrackBall and J2ME

I have my application working fine with the Blackberry 8700 and the
trackwheel, when the user presses the wheel it displays the menu commands
that fire the commandListener. The Blackberry 8800 uses the trackball and it
works for navigation it does not have any access to the menu commands. How
do I allow the user to select a Command using the trackball?
