Jini's Phoenix service allows services to be restarted across reboots by just restarting the Phoenix service. The other benefits of using Jini are numerous, including the availability of the JERI stack to allow you to plug in a wide range of transports, endpoints etc. JERI also provide security capabilities that extend the Java Platform native security to be more resilent to brute force attacks on RMI sessions.
