lsof - List Open Files.

So, we are not necessarily talking sockets, as it could be any file handle.

What about the fact that the "Too many open files" happens on the client
(MyClientSocketFactory)?? Never the less;

Looking at the stack trace, it seems that you establish a UDP connection in
the createSocket() method. Since I doubt that there is a fundamental problem
in RMI, I would start by assuming that you are doing something wrong right
there. Perhaps forgetting to close() something under some particular
condition, i.e. proper placement of close() in finally{}, which only
manifests itself during the lease renewals??
